AMIDST THE HUSTLE and bustle of booming Miami Beach, a secluded paradise awaits. Sunset Harbour Yacht Club (SHYC) overlooks a stunning view of Biscayne Bay where the Venetian Islands meet Miami’s cityscape. This full-service marina, located on the west side of Miami Beach, is protected from prevailing winds and easily accessible from the ICW.
With $7 million in capital improvements completed over the past six years, the yacht club offers unique equity club memberships where stakeholders and owners share a piece of prime, waterfront real estate.
The marina boasts 125 wet slips accommodating 45’ to 210’ megayachts, motor yachts, sailboats and center consoles. The equity membership program includes a reserved slip, gated/covered parking space and use of facilities such as the fitness center and Olympic-size heated pool, clubhouse access, outdoor cabana area with grills and a personal dock box.
Additional amenities include in-slip pump-out with fuel delivered by Peterson Fuel Barge, high-power electrical service, free Wi-Fi with direct Internet hook-up and valet parking for guests.
“We have a very aggressive maintenance and capital program to keep the SHYC in top condition,” says General Manager Doug Mason. “Over the years, we’ve completed $7 million in capital improvements, all without assessment to our members.”
Gorgeous landscape renovations, a new fitness center and a revamped 800-foot dock with concrete piles and composite decking on the canal were all finished in 2019.
In 2016, the $1.5 million electrical project upgraded all docks to provide a true 240-volt system, plus updated the main serve to deliver 480-volt 3 phase with up to 200 amp service.
Conveniently located 1.5 miles north of Government Cut at the heart of the famous South Beach, SHYC is just minutes from shopping districts, golf-courses, watersports and nightlife.
Restaurants in walking distance of the marina include Lucali for homemade pizza, Pubbelly for sushi, Icebox Café for brunch and sweets, and Sardinia Ristorante for upscale Italian. Publix Super Market is less than a mile away for provisions.
Be sure to explore Miami’s rich cultural scene in areas such as the Art Deco Historic District.
