Situated on the southern coast of Skidaway Island just outside of Savannah, GA, the cozy atmosphere of Delegal Creek Marina feels like a home away from home.
A breathtaking, panoramic view of the marina’s coastal grasslands unfolds before a rustic, two-story lookout tower located in the heart of the docks. The slow-paced countryside and seclusion make it an ideal location for a tranquil getaway. Adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway at mile marker 601, and easily accessible to transients, the marina has 60 wet slips and can accommodate boats up to 110 feet.
Marina Director, Rory Jose describes it as a picturesque place to stay. “It’s a destination marina, so a lot of people come to get off the beaten path rather than stay at a marina right on the ICW.” The docks float alongside salt marshes thriving with wildlife. The barrier island is teeming with various species of native birds, and the lagoons are filled with aquatic creatures.
Surrounded by a private island community, the intimacy of Delegal Creek is the reason many visitors purchase a home here. Just 15 minutes north is its sister marina, Landings Harbor, where transients can access additional facilities including a major dry stack facility, jet ski storage and the main ships store. Both marinas on the island provide essentials such as pump-out service, shower and laundry facilities, and affordable rates for wet slips.
Services exude true southern hospitality. The marina provides courtesy golf carts to drive across the island, as well as pet-friendly facilities. The staff will personally arrange activities at The Landings Club such as taking a dip in the private pool or scheduling a reservation at one of the six restaurants on-site. Other activities include cruising down Delegal Creek in a kayak or taking a nature walk beneath a gorgeous canopy of oak trees. They even offer rentals with a special launch for people who may have trouble getting in and out of a kayak.
Downtown Savannah is only 25 minutes away, where you can visit charming sites such as Forsyth Park or stroll along the waterfront of River Street and get a boozy slushy from Wet Willies. After Hurricane Matthew destroyed 70% of Delegal Creek’s facilities in 2016, it took two years to resurrect the beautiful marina. With its new facilities, growing popularity and intimate size, do not miss visiting Delegal Creek.
