HAVEN HARBOUR MARINA — located on protected Swan Creek in the authentic watermen’s village of Rock Hall, Maryland — is a true yachting retreat. Once upon a time, Haven Harbour Marina was a humble, standalone mom-and-pop operation in need of attention. But when William Brawner acquired the facility in 1986, major modifications including land improvements and the implementation of floating docks completely transformed the property into a top boating resort.
With a slew of onshore amenities, including two swimming pools, the onsite Passages Bar & Grill, fitness center, meticulously manicured recreation area and complimentary bicycles, kayaks and shuttle rides around Rock Hall — not to mention the best-in-class service center — it is clear that Haven Harbour Marina has found a winning formula. What’s more, in addition to outstanding amenities, the marina is also now home to the recently opened Inn at Haven Harbour, featuring 24 blissful guest rooms within five buildings on the property, offering a peaceful hideaway for guests exploring the Eastern Shore of Maryland by boat or land.
The current president of Haven Harbour Marina, Jamie Brawner, attributes a great deal of the marina’s success to the facility’s personnel. “We’re fortunate because the marina has so many dedicated, long-term employees,” Brawner explains. “Retaining the best-skilled individuals so that there is a continuity in customer care is a major goal for us, and it is what keeps boaters returning season after season.”
The marina also emphasizes the preservation and celebration of Rock Hall’s unique history as a working waterfront. Located onsite and entirely funded by Haven Harbour Marina, the Waterman’s Museum includes exhibits that demonstrate this unique way of life. The village of Rock Hall is just a short bike ride or shuttle away, and offers visitors several dining options, including local steamed crabs at Waterman’s Crab House and live music at Mainstay on Main Street.
As the boating season approaches in the Chesapeake Bay, the established Haven Harbour brand will continue on its path of growth. After the recent purchase of the nearby Sailing Emporium Marina — now called Haven Harbour South — plans are already underway to create another premier resort and marina, with face dock, electrical upgrades and the eventual addition of an on-site inn, bar and restaurant.
For a slice of paradise unmatched by any other marina in the Chesapeake Bay, find your way to Haven Harbour Marina and Haven Harbour South. You’ll fall in love with everything these ports and the charming town of Rock Hall have to offer.
