Located on the Bohemia River in Chesapeake City, Md. just south of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, Bohemia Vista is one of the finest marinas on the Chesapeake Bay. The property has been home to a marina for more than 20 years and recently underwent an extensive overhaul that has been attracting the attention of Bay-area boaters and transient cruisers. Renovations began in 2010, when state-of-the-art floating docks were installed by Bellingham Marine. There are currently 104 slips with more on the way. New private bathroom and shower facilities, laundry room and a skipper’s lounge help make life even easier at the family-oriented and pet-friendly port. There is a highly experienced service department, a 35-ton travel lift, public boat launch, and extra-large lots for safe, secure winter storage.
The beautiful Bohemia River offers solitude marked by spectacular sunrises and sunsets. The area attracts visitors who come to enjoy the abundant wildlife — bald eagle sightings are a frequent occurrence. Marina manager Karen Smith says, “The laid-back atmosphere is what first drew me here. You can have all kinds of fun without having to deal with the over-population of so many other waterfront areas.” The on-site swimming pool is a wonderful place to while away a hot summer afternoon. Nearby Elk Neck State Park has lots of opportunities for fishing and hiking, and there are great restaurants, bars and shops in the surrounding towns.
Bohemia Vista’s sister marina Hack’s Point is nearby and close to the popular Ski Beach, known to locals as the place to take the kids waterskiing, tubing and swimming away from the busy bay traffic. Both marinas are managed by Coastal Properties Management, Inc., which is dedicated to breathing new life into both facilities.
And Bohemia Vista is not just a pretty face. It also holds the distinction of being a Maryland-designated clean Marina, recognized for its eco-friendly, antipollution efforts. Cruise on over to the quiet side of the bay to see what all the fuss is about.
