Just 15 miles north of West Palm Beach, Fla., is Jupiter Island, one of the easternmost points on the Atlantic seaboard. Jupiter has been an important and popular landmark for cargo ships and pleasure boats for centuries, and it is known for its tropical beauty, elegance and charm.

The Bluffs Marina is conveniently located three miles South of the Jupiter Inlet on the east side of the ICW, with direct ocean access via both the Jupiter and Lake Worth inlets. The 10-acre yacht basin features 97 deep-water slips, can accommodate vessels up to 130 feet and is classified as a hurricane-safe harbor.

Dockominiums first rose to prominence in the 1980s, when slips were in high demand and scarce. The idea of owning your own piece of the water perfectly coincided with the needs of the time, and dockominiums became an appealing investment for many boaters: They could purchase dock space or a slip, complete with deed and title, and then rent or lease it out through the marina when they themselves weren’t using it. Thus, they’d always be guaranteed dockage when they wanted it but could earn money on the space when they didn’t need it.

At the Bluffs Marina, dockominiums have remained highly sought after. “We have had many slip sales in recent years,” says Mark May, owner of CCB Investors Assets Management, a holding company that controls the remaining slip portfolio. “In fact,” he continues, “we have sold more slips in 2012-2013 than all other Palm Beach area marinas combined.” At the Bluffs, slip owners rent and lease their property with the help of the association’s dock master.

The marina’s amenities include dockside fuel and cable and telephone services. It is minutes by car from Palm Beach International Airport, minutes by foot to gorgeous beaches and only about a mile to the Riverwalk, Jupiter’s new network of scenic waterfront walking and biking trails. Excellent restaurants, dozens of shops and world-class golf and tennis facilities are also nearby.

The Bluffs Marina continues to grow — a pool, private bath/shower area and additional parking are anticipated. “The Bluffs has been Jupiter’s best kept secret,” says May, “but the word is getting out. We have already sold many of our larger slips. People should come buy their own slice of the waterfront before it’s all gone!”
